Pismo Beach - June 21st-23rd, 2003

After the events of last year's trip, everyone was ready for a more sedate annual run to Pismo Beach. The previous year's trip did spark more interest and more people than ever attended. Dave, Bill, JB, Dave's parents and Bill's friend Victor arrived on Thursday and the two motorhomes offered some protection from the usually windy coast. Most of us arrived on Friday before the surge of weekend warriors charged through the gates looking for a campsite along the beach.

Wood is a very important ingredient to a fun weekend at Pismo. Unlike most trips, we can't scavenge any local wood so we always have to cart our own dow. This year it was my turn and I loaded down Bill's trailer for two good nights around the campfire.

Don decided to make the trip and had his new Bronco all ready to take revenge on Pismo Beach. The prerunner Bronco avenged the death of 'Old Red'.

The nights were pretty mild and not as wet as usual. Those were good things since I had forgotten my sleeping bag and only had an old blanket I bought at the Goodwill next to Von's where I bought my groceries. Even with the mild night, Raphael managed to snap the rare photo you see on the left. It is Bill without a tank top or shorts. We had a nice fire that evening and Dave enjoyed writing things with gas for the quads. Dan, Chris and I went out and played in the sand dunes at night for a little bit.
