Monday

Damon and Torrey showed up at 10 am and we prepared to head down the road a few hundred yards to the park entrance. Everyone aired down and locked their hubs in and we were off.

Alex hitches a Ride with Damon Today
The weather was about as good as we could wish for. Temperatures only got into the low to mid 80's during the day. That was nice since the canyon we run is almost devoid of vegetation and breezes are few and far between.

Marty's Rig
Soon we reached my favorite and the most difficult obstacle on the trail, the V-rock. It seems easier every time and it looks like there is more and more rock stacking going on the later in the season you go. For the most difficult challenge, its best to go during the rainy season when the river is full and the rocks have been pushed around by the water.
Dry or wet, the V-rock demands at least 1 locker and or plenty of clearance above your rocker panel. Rocker panel protection is advised. I was leading the pack so I parked and waited for everyone to catch up so they could watch the trucks that were attempting the obstacle.

After everyone came around the bypass, which is not easy either, we headed deeper into the canyon and the trail because more challenging. Lots of small, rocky sections made going difficult and required a good line and spotting.
